news #580 image
We are all about promoting and pushing exciting artists and groups within this beautiful genre we know and love as Hip Hop. With this in mind, and with Hip Hop Kemp fast approaching we have a whole bunch of new names to announce for this years festival for you lucky heads!

Where to begin? For those that like their Hip Hop ruff, rugged & raw, we are very proud to present Bishop Lamont! The Cali born MC will be playing on the main stage alongside producer and rhymer Black Milk. Both artists are favourite's of ours up at HHK HQ. Bishop Lamont has been hard at work recently. In the studio day& night recording music in preparation for an explosive 2008-2009 for Aftermath Records. Bishop's debut The Reformation dropped in 2008 to rave reviews. Right now Bishop Lamont is preparing for his street solo street album The Confessional with east coast great & mixtape king DJ Whoo Kid with a June 10th release date. The buzz on road is at an all time high. Dr. Dre and Bishop Lamont will have their hands full preparing for a new era of Aftermath and counting down to Bishop and Dre's respective 2009 releases! What can be said about Black Milk that hasn't been said already? A genius on the boards and a monster in the booth. Milk has truly cemented his name in the Hip Hop history books with the solid releases from the mighty Koch camp. Did you manage to hear the Caltroit mixtape late last year?? The collaborative project between Milk & Lamont proves that they have the game on lock!

Moving seamlessly from rowdy to laid back we have the great pleasure to announce the marijuana pilot himself, Mr Landing Gear; Devin The Dude! Best known for his unique rapping style and long career signed to Rap-A-Lot Records. Devin is a must-see artist. If weed and women is your thing, then this is your man. Devin the Dude has kept a smile on Hip Hop's face while most of his peers have opted for a menacing scowl. Possessing the rare ability to inject humor, sex and substance in each of his rhymes. Devin has carved his niche in rap music, becoming everybody's favorite guilty pleasure in the process. Devin has worked with blockbuster artists like Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Andre 3000, Dr. Dre and Raphael Saadiq. He will be playing tracks from his past LP's and his current release Landing Gear!

So you want more?? What about El Da Sensi?? The New Jersey king has been down since the jump..bringing you nothing but consistent good music. This guy is Hip Hop personified, a graffiti artist, B-boy, beat boxer, and lyricist. El channeled his diverse talents through his music. In his teens he battled as a dancer, and later began entering emcee battles. He partnered with Tame One to form the group Thats Them, but later changed the group moniker to The Artifacts. In an era when Hip Hop was a mosh pit of over-the-top styles and flavors, The Artifacts brought fans the most organic, pure combination of beats and rhymes. At this phase of his already prolific career, El Da Sensei is proving he has not gone anywhere. He also seeks to satisfy his core audience and keep his character fresh with today's times. "We merge with the mainstream to show them that artists like me still exist and can be relevant today. I'm not afraid to challenge myself and experiment. Wise words from the man..be sure to see him prove it on this years main stage!

For the UK and joining the already strong representation that is Fallacy & Lady Sov..We are excited to announce Blak Twang, Killa Kela & Bashy to the line up. Blak Twang is easily the hardest working most consistent man in UK Hip Hop. Since Detwork South-East the man has been pushing the scene forward like a Hip Hop Trojan horse. You can expect reggae fueled, energy filled tracks from the South London trooper! The man is as British as bangers and mash, holding down South-East via Birmingham and Manchester with a gong-heavy mantelpiece. Currently heading his own imprint, Speaking from Xperience (the most recent release) follows the mostly Twang-produced Rotton Club from 2005, which showed Twang in unflinchingly speaker-shanking form. Speaking of shaking speakers, the power house multi vocalist- beat box master that is Killa Kela will also be gracing the main stage alongside Bashy. Kela has been mesmerizing crowds since the early 90's. Starting out with the 360 physicals then moving on to bigger and better things with the Spit Kingdom movement. Kela really is a master when it comes to working the crowd into a frenzy. Check out his recent single built like an Amplifier. This see's kel's moving away from the traditional beat boxing flavour and experimenting with his vocal talents...When it comes to his live show you can expect a mixture of old and new material..mixed with none other than Bashy. Eighteen months ago 23 year old Ashley Thomas (Bashy) was just a bus driver that had an eye for the female passengers. Until the release of Black Boys the track paying homage to the achievements of some of Britain?s most successful young black men dropped. Bashy's Youtube hits exceeded 1 million, and overnight a star was born and the bus driver laid his uniform to rest!
